چکیده
LLE Review, Volume 126 59 Introduction The transition of an insulator to a metal (metallization) at high compression is generally the result of pressure-induced closure of the band gap.1–4 Lithium fluoride’s (LiF’s) largeband-gap and ionic crystalline structure produces its uniquely high ultraviolet transmissivity. Two rare-gas solids, He and Ne, have anomalously high metallization pressures because of the predicted intershell band overlap, which is unique among monatomic materials.5 LiF holds a rare position among binary compounds in that Li+ and F– are isoelectronic with He and Ne, respectively. Therefore, LiF is expected to have a uniquely high metallization pressure among large-band-gap solid insulators.

Interferometric measurement of the temperature coefficient of the refractive index dn/dT and the coefficient of thermal expansion of Pr:YLF laser crystals.
We report interferometric measurements of the temperature coefficient of the refractive index (dn/dT) and the coefficient of thermal expansion (α) of a praseodymium-doped yttrium lithium fluoride (Pr:YLF) crystal and of a fused silica reference sample. Our phase-resolved interferometric method yields a large number of data points and thus allows a precise measurement and a good error estimation...

In this research, synthesis of lithium fluoride (LiF) nanoparticles by fluorolytic sol-gel method has been studied. Moreover, the effect of lithium ion to fluorine source molar ratio and calcination temperature on particle size and phase of LiF nanoparticles were investigated. Lithium acetate (C2H3LiO2), trifluoroacetic acid (TFA), ethylene glycol monobutyl ether and oleic acid were used as so...

متن کاملThe refractive index and electronic gap of water and ice increase with increasing pressure
Determining the electronic and dielectric properties of water at high pressure and temperature is an essential prerequisite to understand the physical and chemical properties of aqueous environments under supercritical conditions, for example, in the Earth interior. However, optical measurements of compressed ice and water remain challenging, and it has been common practice to assume that their...
